Hi, I'm Shabnam Lee
As a management consultant turned counselor with over 20 years of experience, my approach to therapy is structured, outcome-oriented, and evidence-based, incorporating the latest developments in psychology and neuroscience.
Here's my journey to becoming a therapist.
"The Volunteer"
My journey in helping began early - my gap year after uni turned into 4 years spent in China.
I worked with educational non-profits to uplift rural youth in their capacity to contribute meaningfully to society but something was missing...
"The Consultant"
I learnt to make a real impact in improving the world, I needed to balance my conceptual knowledge with strategic biz skills.
I switched to management consulting with a top global firm and it ignited my passion to understand psychology in the workplace so....
"The Psychologist"
I worked + studied to become a management psychologist trained in understanding human behaviour at the workplace.
I spent a decade helping large companies empower their employees but I had a nagging feeling that I was using my expertise not to improve lives but to benefit companies...
"The Working Mum"
I was also now building a family with a partner deep in the hustle of the start-up world, across different countries.
While I witnessed the birth of a Unicorn, I was unraveling under the pressure of trying to do it all as a wife and mother while being lost in the haze of having a meaningful career...
"The Counselor"
I needed perspective and discovered the wonder of mental health therapy and seeking wisdom from like-minded individuals.
I earned my second Masters, qualified as a Internal Family Systems Therapist and quit my consulting career with a Big 4 to support others in their healing journey as I healed myself too.
My approach to therapy integrates various therapy modalities and theories, such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT), Polyvagal Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
I welcome you to my mental health therapy practice, sitwithshabs.
